Rescue Runs MVA

The rescue along with EMS 566 were dispatched to the Pittston By-Pass in front of the funeral home for a 3 car MVA involving a tractor trailer. PD was first arriving confirming 2 cars and a tractor trailor with injuries. The rescue arrived to complete stabilization of the vehicles and control the hazards. Due to an active leak in the saddle tank of the tractor the rescue was tasked with plugging the tank. The rescue remained on scene until the towing company can drain the tank and transport the truck safely.
Afternoon Porch Fire In First Due

The rescue along with the first alarm assignment responded to Parnell St. in Pittston Twp. for a reported porch fire. Rescue 166 was first arriving and found that the fire had been knocked by the home owner. The 166 crew and the 148 truck did some overhaul and check for extension, which turned up negative. The box was returned to service within a half hour.
MVA With Confinement

The rescue responded to Laflin Rd. in Laflin for a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment. The 152 engine was the first arriving and reported one vehicle on its side with confinement. The 148 engine and the 152 engine did some temporary stabilization and began cutting the windshield. The 166 rescue arrived and set up the strut system to complete stabilization and assist with extrication of the patient. The rescue operated for 45 minutes before returning to service.
Afternoon Vehicle Fire

The rescue, engine, and brush were called off of there training session to respond to a vehicle fire on Suscon Rd. 166 chief-a was first arriving reporting a fully involved pick-up truck with a dump body. The rescue arrived and placed an 1 3/4 handline in service to knock the fire down. The engine crew was tasked with opening the hood to complete extinguishment. The units operated for a half hour before returning to service.
West Pittston Job

The rescue responded to Exeter Ave. in West Pittston for the structure fire. The original 911 call was recieved at approximately 4 A.M. The 166 crew was requested to relieve the first alarm companies with overhaul. The rescue operated for an hour and a half before being released.
Attic Fire In First Due

The rescue and engine responded to 21 Bryden St. for a working attic fire. The rescue arrived first to find smoke and heat in the attic area. While Rescue 166 and Rescue 112 opened up the attic and remove debris to find the seat of the fire, the 166 Engine would strech an 1.75 attack line. After removing debris the fire was located and knocked down with multiple water extinguishers. Ladder 148 and Rescue 112 put a hole in the roof for ventilation and so the blown-in insulation can be removed. Units operated for approximately an hour and 30 minutes before being released.
Fire Destroys Home In First Due

The rescue and engine along with the first alarm assignment responded to Gable Crest Dr. in Pittston Twp. for a reported structure fire. As crews were responding, smoke was visible from several miles away. The engine was first arriving reporting a fully involved home and quickly placed an 1 3/4 in service to protect the exposures until a water supply was established. The rescue arrived and gave the engine it's water while the crew went to assist in protecting the exposures. The 126 and 112 engines were asked to establish a water supply as the develpoment has no hydrants. Engine 112 layed 1,000 feet of five inch and the 126 engine finished the strech laying 800 feet. As the hydrant was turned on, a car drove over one length of hose causing it to burst. This added a delay in getting the water supply established. A second alarm and the tanker task force was requested by command. The 96 truck arrived and once the water supply was established, was able to flow the ladder pipe. The 143 engine was tasked with pumping the water from the hydrant up the hill to the scene. The house was a complete loss. Units cleared after 5 hours.
Duryea Garage Fire

The rescue responded as part of a first alarm assignment into duryea for a reported garage fire. Duryea Chief was first arriving and reported a working fire in a detached garage. The 126 engine arrived next followed by the 96 ladder. The engine put a knock on the fire while the truck went to the roof to open it up. The 166 rescue was sent to the rear to pull the eves around the chimney. The rescue cleared shortly after and was sent to William St. in Pittston City for the fire alarm. The rescue was cancelled while responding.
Duryea Garage and Trailer Fire

The rescue responded as part of a first alarm assignment to Popple Construction in Duryea for a reported fully involved trailer fire. Duryea chief Hughes was first arriving, confirming the fully involved trailer with extension into a garage. The chief also confirmed several vehicles involved. Due to the location of the incident the chief requested the second alarm and the tanker box be dispatched. Duryea ladder, engine, and rescue 112 arrived next. While the engine stretched a 2 1/2 attack line, the rescue and ladder teamed up to force entry and remove an overhead door at the rear of the structure. Rescue 166 arrived, dropped the crew off at the command post on side A of the structure. The rescue then headed around to an access road in the rear of the structure to pick up the end of Hughestown's engine supply line. The rescue would finish the stretch, stretching 900 ft of 5 inch supply line. The crew was sent to relieve the 126 engine on the 2 1/2 attack line. Once the building was opened up the 166 crew would advance the line into a small office area to knock down some fire. Fire Rips Through Hughestown Home

The rescue responded as part of a first alram assignment into hughestown for a reported working structure fire. Chief 143 was first arriving reporting one home fully involved with the "b" side exposure starting to catch. Engine 143 arrived, established the water supply, and quickley placed a 2 1/2 inch line in service. The rescue then arrived and set up a RIT staging area. Engines 165 and 126 also placed 2 2 1/2 inch attack lines in service to protect the exposures and the rear. The 166 rescue was sent to the "b" side exposure to the attic to check for extension, there was some heat and fire showing through the TIC up in the roof area which crews were able to knock down from the exterior. At this time command requested to the second alarm be dispatched. Ladder 96 was tasked with ventilation in the "b" side exposure before putting the ladder pipe in service on the main fire building. The rescue remained on scene as the RIT until the fire building was collapsed and all personnel were safe. The rescue returned to service after 3 1/2 hours.
Crash With Entrapment

The rescue responded to I-81 in Laflin early this morning for a three car MVA with entrapment. State police was first arriving confirming three vehicles with one person trapped. The rescue arrived to find Engines 148 and 152 at work getting the vehicle stabilized and had gained access to the patient. The rescue would be task with removing the roof and cuting the rings from the steering wheel to free the patient. The patient was extricated and into the hands of EMS within 20 minutes. The occupants from the other vehicles were also transported to near-by hospitals. The rescue would return to serive within an hour.
Almost A Bad Night

The rescue responded to Oak St. for a reported 1 vehicle rollover with 3 patients. Ambulance 566 was first arriving intiating patient care and reporting everybody is out of the vehicle. The rescue assisted EMS with patient care and then controlled the hazards. Due to the extent of injuries a second BLS truck was requested. All occupants were transported to near-by hospitals and the rescue was returned to service within 45 minutes.
Afternoon Vehicle Fire

The rescue and engine responded to the Pittston By-pass for a reported working vehicle fire. The Deputy Chief was first arriving reporting an engine compartment fire. The engine then arrived and streched an 1.75 handline to extinguish the fire. The rescue would gain access into the vehicle and force the hood open to completely extinguish the fire. All units cleared within 30 minutes.
Close Call

The rescue was dispatched to I-81 for a report of a tractor trailer over the embankment. While responding, the Deputy Chief advised the rescue that the truck had left the Interstate and landed on Butler Rd. The driver had been self extricated with minor injuries. The rescue operated on scene for 15 minutes before being released by PSP.
